ISO/IEC Standards

Independent Standards for IT organisations
The International Standards Organisation is a global body that creates standards for operating and managing an IT organisation. Two of the most used standards for managing information technology are ISO/IEC 20000 for service management and ISO/IEC 27000 for information security. When you consider yourself an expert in the field of IT service management you really need to understand these standards and how they help to enhance the overall delivery of IT services. Organisations can get audited to receive independent certification against these standards. Organisational certification is separate from these educational programs but an introduction to these certification bodies can be organised through your Art of Service contact person.

When an organisation already has the certification for the ISO/IEC 270001 standard it is considered sufficiently covered for the purpose of ISO/IEC 20000 and doesn’t have to be audited again. The Art of Service offers ISO/IEC 20000 education which covers 3 Parts of the standard:

  • Part I = Requirements (“shalls” )
  • Part II = Guidance (“shoulds”)
  • Part III = Scope

The Art of Service offers Information Security Management education split up in 2 programs:

  • ISO/IEC 27001 Awareness covers the requirements for information security.
  • ISO/IEC 27002 Foundation covers the guidance for information security management.
