AI Strategy & Governance
What does AI governance actually cover?
AI governance is the set of policies, controls and accountabilities that decide which AI systems an organisation may build or buy, on what data, with what human oversight, and with what monitoring once live. It covers model inventory, risk classification, bias and performance testing, documentation, and the escalation path when a system behaves badly.
Who is normally accountable for AI governance?
Accountability usually sits with a named executive owner supported by a cross-functional group: legal and privacy for lawful basis, security for the data and the model supply chain, risk for classification and appetite, and the business owner for the decision the system automates. The model's builder is rarely the right person to approve its use.
